The Kingsbury Colombo

The hotel has a great atmosphere with brightness and many people. The service is good as you walk in. we did experience a situation where the room service food we ordered did not arrive for over an hour. We had to make several calls to get it sorted. This should not be the case in a 5 start Colombo hotel. However, the rest of the stay was pleasant. A great shout out to the head chef in the main restaurant in the morning hours. He was such a great staff to welcome us every morning, provided us with extra care and attention. Nothing we asked was an issue for him. Lakshman is a great asset to your business and truly lives up to the quality of the hotel's values. The front office could do better in that aspect to provide a much better welcome to all new guests, especially if its your first time in this hotel Kingsbury Colombo.

The staff at this hotel are amazing - accommodating, friendly, professional and super helpful. The rooms were a little outdated decor-wise but the bed and linen were clean and super comfortable. The climate control was easy enough to make cooler/less cooler. The pool area was great - perhaps more active and vibrant than we had counted on. Though it quietened down each evening before too late. Food at the breakfast venue was impeccable - tasty, fresh and varied. The chefs were lovely, accommodating and so hospitable. We splashed out on a massage too - the staff there were great, as well.

Spent a memorable stay at Kingsbury. The staff were amazing, from check in to check out. Special thanks to Manjula, the Concierge for his friendly approach. Nothing was too much for him. Only negative point which I believe has nothing to do with the hotel: I took a taxi there for city tour and asked the taxi driver to bring me to buy a sim card since I would spend 1 week over Sri Lanka. He brought me to a local shop where I purchased unlimited data and the sim. Didn't use the data since I used the wifi of the hotel when back from the trip. However while leaving the hotel the next day for Hikkaduwa I put the data on but was surprised when I was informed by message that no data was available and I needed to top up. Have I been scammed by the local shop? Apart from that, the stay at Kingsbury was great.

Breakfast was great - a large selection of different foods - during our stay and for breakfast - the head chef was who was very good and helpful and assisted us with the different food and dishes - staff were good - some staff at the restaurant need to be smiling a bit and helpful - there was a few - who looked very stressed and tired.. but well groomed.

As always, The Kingsbury lived up to its reputation as a first class hotel, worthy of the five star ranking. All the staff work hard to give their guests an enjoyable and memorable visit, they are professional, friendly and helpful. The staff in the restaurant are outstanding as they prepare and serve delicious food. Breakfast especially is plentiful and delicious, I only wish that I could cook an omelette as tasty as their chefs! It's so relaxing to spend a lazy afternoon in the shade at the side of the pool and two cocktails for the price of one is an added bonus, also the rooftop bar is a lovely setting for a last drink before bedtime. If we ever return to Sri Lanka I would have no hesitation in booking another return visit to The Kingsbury.
